Welcome back to my page!
As promised from last week, I’ve done an edition about what I use on my combination, acne prone skin! I won’t blab on about my skin because it’s all in the previous post which is linked here in my review of the Mario Badescu Acne Repair kit.
I want to put my disclaimer at the beginning of this post because I need people to know: please note this is from my personal experience and may differ from your own, what works for my skin may not work for yours.
Now I have got that out of the way, I would like to dive in! I am going to separate this into sections to make it easy for everyone to follow (mainly myself) which are, Daily, Weekly and Monthly this way you can get an idea of what my skin needs in order to stay looking fresh (I wish you guys could see me know because my face is a mess, spots everywhere. It’s been a stressful week OK).
My daily routine is made of a few simple steps to keep those spots at bay, I start every morning by cleansing my face, whether this is with one of my many face washes or with my Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser – from using this removes traces of oil and sweat from the night and also makes my face fresh and ready to conquer the day. I follow up with a toner, which is currently my Botanics Refreshing Toning Spritz to refresh my face before my moisturiser. Currently, I switch between Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream or the Clinique pep-start hydroblur moisturizer (mouthful right?) both nice and work great on my combination skin. After Removing my makeup at the end of the day, I tend to follow up with these steps occasionally incorporating my The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and Salicylic Acid 2% Solution.
Weekly I try to stick to two products to keep it very simple, which is my face mask which I don’t use a specific one. I mix between my Manuka Doctor Purifying Facial Peel or the Loreal Clay Blemish mask… both are good and definitely help remove all impurities from my face. I do try to at least once sometimes twice a week use my Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads just to help exfoliate the skin especially as this targets oily and congested skin.
Within the monthly category, I wanted to include things and I use specifically around that time of the month when I do suffer worst from spots. Luckily, it’s never too severe any other time which makes my life SO much easier. I like to use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion because that removes every trace of that spot for me, I apply before bed and the next morning BAM, it’s gone! It’s like some sort of sorcery… mind blown. I do very very occasionally, use my Sunday Riley Juno facial oil just to perk up my face a little bit- this stuff is a bit steep in price but DAMN it’s good especially as it’s full of goodness.
I have noticed such a difference in my skin especially when I stick to this routine religiously, over the last 10 years I have struggled with my skin that this hunt for the perfect skincare has been long. Hopefully, some of these products may work for you or for the whole routine.
I would love to hear whether you guys have any recommendations or holy grails for me to try.
Until next time…
Love, DD x
