Welcome back to my page!
I wanted to share my travel essential’s that I take in my makeup bag whenever I go away, I have quite a huge makeup collection at home and it’s hard for me to sometimes choose which products are musts for when I am not at home. But I have managed to collate my absolutely favourite products for you all, and hopefully, this will help you when you’re struggling with what you pack.
For those that are wondering, and I usually get asked this question whenever I have this makeup bag with me. It’s from Skinny Dip, it has several matching accessories with it and I’ll also link it at the bottom of my page- I also have the matching phone case for this and I was obsessed from the get-go. Admittedly I did break the case and will be buying another one for the summer again.
I have separated this all into sections as I thought this was the best way to show what products I carry as well as how I used them for other purposes (if I do).
My skincare routine is pretty basic and I feel at this point that anyone who has been reading my blog posts for a while knows which products I always rave about and have made it to my favourites. I usually start with my Botanics Refreshing Toning Spritz to refresh my face and this product smells incredible, it makes my skin feel soft and refreshed within minutes which is great for when I am away from home. I follow up with my Clinique Pep-Start Hydro-Blur Moisturiser which gives a mattified feel to my skin, which is great if I’m feeling lazy or forget my primer. This product makes it regularly in my blog post just because I honestly love the way it feels on my skin and it doesn’t dry out my skin either.
I always carry my Garnier Micellar Water for removing my makeup at the end of the day, if you’re like me and wear full coverage makeup every day you want to use something that removes all traces of makeup – this is definitely the go to. Not only that, I buy a 400ml bottle of this and it lasts me months, it’s super affordable and so much better for your skin than using a face wipe (in my opinion). I finish off with my Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme Night Pads, first of all, thank you, Els, for recommending this product to me! It’s been a favourite of mine for over a year now and it removes all traces of dry skin from my face as well as making it feel clean and giving me a natural glow. Great for when you’re on holiday to remove any sunburn or even just to remove the day from your face. If you want an everyday equivalent of this I recommend the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads, which are great as well!
I always take the same base related products away with me because they always create such effortless coverage, my first would be my Huda Beauty Primer. I started using this in December for my Work Christmas Party and my makeup looked INSANE, my skin was flawless and with a little help from my Smashbox Primer to blur my pores, I can’t complain at all about this combo. I follow up with my Mac Studio Fix foundation which always gives me a flawless coverage and blends beautifully, plus I love the smell of it which doesn’t give me a headache either unlike some other brands. My last base related would be my holy grail concealers which are Tarte Shape Tape or Mac Pro Long-Wear Concealer, both provide great coverage under the eyes and for priming my lids, as well as on any little blemish which appears on my face. My go-to highlighter is the Smashbox Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette, I own the Pearl version and this highlight is blinding especially on my fair face – if you haven’t got this palette I highly recommend! And lastly, my everyday bronzer is always the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, as I’m quite pale it still warms up my face the right amount to give me a warm complexion.
I always take the same palette away with me purely because it is my holy grail palette! Which is the one and only ABH Modern Renaissance palette, this was the first high-end palette I purchased and with its blendable colours, it taught me to apply eyeshadow. It’s perfect shades for going out as it’s got a mixture of pinks, oranges and a colour of darker browns if you’re looking for a smokey look. I have had this palette for almost a year and in all honesty, it’s probably my all-time favourite. My travel Mascara has to be the Benefit Roller Lash which gives it great volume and length.
The truth is with my brows, despite the fact that I own 20,000 different brow products, I only love two. Which are my absolute essentials when I go away or even do my makeup at home. My first product is my Zoeva Graphic Brows, I picked this up on a whim in October (as shown in my Cult Beauty Haul) and I have not stopped using it since. I have used several brow products over the years and this is my favourite, the colour is the perfect shade of brown and it’s also super easy to use and buildable. Nowadays I love natural full looking brows and this does exactly that! My second favourite product is my ABH Brow Gel in Clear, I got this free in my Cult Beauty Goodie Bag and I’m obsessed with it! I used this product through my brows which make them look groomed and full YET my brows are set and usually feel quite hard… but would anyone know from looking at them? NOPE.
Ok, so I start by using my Jeffree Star Lip Scrub to make my lips nice and soft then follow up with my MAC Prep + Prime Lip to help the lipstick last longer before applying my ride and die lip product which is always going to be my MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick partnered with my MAC Spice lipliner, I realise it’s probably everyone’s favourite combo and very unoriginal but honestly… I swear by it. Every time I wear it I get asked which lipstick it is, people are usually shocked when I say MAC because it’s not a brand that I swear by or promote regularly. I even encouraged my BFF Els (TheEJBEdit) to get it when we had a shopping day and she loves it now. Honestly, if you trust me on anything. It’ll be that this lipstick is a must-have in your make up bag.
I hope you liked this post and please let me know what your essential makeup items are!
Until next time!
Love, DD x
